Autumn Camping Trip and best beer discovery mission!

We made it!!!!!!!! Third time lucky and a bit closer but at least we got there – Burnham on Crouch in Essex! https://www.creekseaplace.co.uk/

Kermie did well, apart from the side door not shutting properly so a damp step and bit of a leak in the back corner …but luckily it didn’t rain … much!! Think there was rare minute or 2 without the drizzle so we needed to take regular shelter!

We met with our lovely and fun friends Chris and Sam, who had stayed the previous night. After a quick celebratory tea/coffee (… it was early-ish!), we all set off on the bus to Southminster to visit the Wibblers Brewery http://www.wibblers.co.uk and tap room … obvs stopping off first at the Kings Head pub!

Visit to the tap room at Brewery and yummy burger lunch – probably best burger I have ever eaten … had the dirty chicken burger! Yum!!

Back to Burnham on Crouch to find out which pub is the best!

Our mission: to find the pub that sells the best beer/cider in Burnham on Crouch! We humbly accepted the mission!

So far the best pub for real ales and tasty cider was The Queens Head and we met lovely dog called Fog! But we did miss a few out that we’ll have to try next time!

Back to the campsite to clean up … via the Marina for a quick drink! http://swallowtailrestaurant.co.uk/

Then then long and dark walk back to Burnham for dinner in the Thai! http://www.ruamthaiburnham.co.uk Food was nice especially the starters, tamarind duck, pad Thai, sticky rice and yellow curry but the angry jungle curry was very watery and not very angry!

Nightcaps in the Caravan and feet/sock!

We all slept very well. Good morning, it’s Elfie Sam!

Hair of the dog, still in search of the best pub! You don’t know until you have tried them all! The Queens Head is still in the top spot but we didn’t try the Oyster Smack or the Sailors so … until next time!

Lunch at Sargent Peppers for burgers and ribs! Our own Laurel and Hardy and dancing Chris!

Night shots from the marina, was a long and very dark walk home without a torch. Some of us found it a bit slippy! … wonder if the torch would have helped us stay upright though??!

Chilling and leftovers in the campervan!

Campsite was fine in the Summer but it’s a bit of a trek and very dark in the Autumn … toilets are very dated too!

Top tip: think we will stay at the Silver Road campsite http://www.silverroadcaravanpark.co.uk/ next time, it’s literally at the top of the high street!

Mission conclusion: we’ll have to return … but we recommend the Queens Head for beer and the fish at chips at the Marina were highly rated!

We visited the following pubs in Burnham on Crouch:

Queens Head

Ship

Anchor

White Hart Hotel

Victoria

Swallow Tail
